UPDATE on Lauren Bachmann
By: Amy

-- Lauren's surgery was successful on Nov. 7th. They removed 8 inches of her left fibula and replaced it with a cadaver bone. They biopsied the tumor from the removed bone and found that it was dead. They did trace scrapings on the ends of the removed bone and found that it was cancer free. So, the chemo treatments worked!!!
Lauren continued treatments every 14 days. She is receiving treatment this week - normal 5 day treatment. She will go back in for her next treatment (tentative) on the 13th. They reduced this treatment from 3 days down to 1. (They are not giving her all the different chemo medicines that she received when the cancer was still alive.) Her last treatment is scheduled for Feb. 27. They will continue to check her blood -- WBC and ANC to make sure this cancer doesn't return and that her body is producing what she needs.
Lauren's surgeon picked her and a couple other patients from Cincinnati Childrens Hospital for a "resort vacation" to Colorado in March. She will be staying at The Little Star Ranch - run by tennis star Andrea Jaeger. (http://www.littlestar.org/index.html)
She started clogging again when the doctors said "do what you can ... but not to much". She was dancing with a boot-cast!
What she is most looking forward to is coming to Cumberland in April!
Pam Bachmann, Lauren's Mom, wanted to thank everyone again for the split-the-pot; the benefit funds and mostly the prayers that carried Lauren and the whole family through this ordeal. It's not over but the end is definately insight. Lauren (and the family) has a team of angels watching over her -- and a great mountain of support!!
"Thanks" will never be enough!
